As a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend and parishioner there are many intentions for which to pray. The Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a perfect prayer in which to include these many intentions in my prayer time. I offer each Rosary or each decade or even each Hail Mary for the needs I am aware of that day.
I am very fortunate that the Rosary is prayed in community before each weekday Mass in my parish. I also belong to a group who prays the Rosary for the intentions of the students and teachers in the chapel at our local high school each week.
Our prayers are heard by the blessed Virgin Mary, our Mother, given to us by Jesus as he died on the cross. As a mother she cares deeply for all of her children and she intercedes for us with her son, Jesus.
There have been times when I was very ill or very fearful and couldn’t pray. I just held my rosary beads and asked Mother Mary to help me. Other times during my illness I would awaken during the night, alone, and when I was able I would reach for my rosary beads from my bedside table and pray. It helped me get through those long dark hours.
These particular rosary beads are very precious to me. They were given to me by a friend who received them from Pope Francis. Whichever rosary beads you may have, use them to pray the Rosary and ask our Mother Mary to intercede for you with her Son. As St. Louis de Montfort wrote, “To Jesus through Mary.” Mother Mary will lead us to her Son if we ask her. We can do nothing on our own. She is there for us!
