dedicated the early years of his ministry to pastoral service.
He served as both an assistant pastor and later as a pastor for nine years at Nirmala Matha
Church in Station Ghanpur, Warangal Diocese, Telangana, India. During his time there, he
worked closely with Holy Cross Family Ministries (HCFM) in India, organizing conferences
for couples, youth, and children in the parish. After completing ten years of pastoral service, he
pursued further studies in pastoral psychology in Manila, Philippines.
On October 30, 2015, he was chosen to serve at Saint Joseph’s Oratory in Montreal, Canada.
His ability to communicate fluently in French, English, and four Indian languages has been
instrumental in ministering to the thousands of pilgrims who visit St. Joseph’s Oratory from
around the world.
Inspired by the mission and ministry of Venerable Patrick Peyton, Father Arul Jayaraj accepted
the role of Director of Family Ministry in Montreal on October 10, 2023. In this role, he
continues to foster prayer and spiritual growth among families, conducting seminars, parish
visits, rosary devotions, Eucharistic adorations, Holy Masses, and healing services. His
pastoral approach and multilingual abilities make him a valuable spiritual guide for people from
diverse cultural backgrounds.
Father Arul was born and raised in the traditional Catholic village of Irundai in Tamil Nadu,
India. He is the third of six siblings, and one of his sisters serves as a religious nun in the
Aloysius Gonzaga Convent. Inspired by his father, a school principal, he pursued his
bachelor’s degree at Bharathidasan University, Trichy, and later obtained a master’s degree
in education from Kakatiya University, Warangal, Telangana. His theological formation
includes a Bachelor’s in Philosophy and Theology from Jnana Deepa Institute, Pune, India.
His devotion to the Holy Rosary was instilled in him from an early age through his family’s
daily prayer tradition. His father founded a St. Anthony Shrine, where young Arul Jayaraj led
the Holy Rosary, further deepening his spiritual connection with Mary, the Mother of God. He
firmly believes in the words of Venerable Patrick Peyton, “The family that prays together stays
together,” and remains dedicated to promoting the Rosary as a way to reflect on the life and
ministry of Jesus Christ and strengthen family unity worldwide.
