Over the past three months, our ministry has joyfully distributed Rosaries, how to Pray the Rosary leaflets, and Divine Mercy Chaplet prayer cards to several parish communities. These were shared with the intention of deepening devotion, encouraging daily prayer, and promoting the spiritual legacy of Venerable Patrick Peyton, C.S.C., who tirelessly proclaimed, “The family that prays together stays together. “The following parishes were the beneficiaries; –St. Kevin’s Parish – 300 Rosaries, St. John Brebeuf Parish – 350 Rosaries and St. Thomas Parish – 150 Rosaries.
Through these simple yet powerful tools of prayer, we continue the mission of Holy Cross Family Ministries, which serves families worldwide by fostering unity, strengthening faith, and nurturing love rooted in Christ. Inspired by the spirituality of the Congregation of Holy Cross, this ministry emphasizes:
1. Family Prayer as a Path to Holiness
In the spirit of Fr. Peyton, we encourage families to gather daily to pray the Rosary. This devotion invites households to contemplate the mysteries of Christ through the loving gaze of Our Blessed Mother, who tenderly guides her children to her Son. Family prayer becomes a source of peace, reconciliation and mutual support, a sign of grace in a busy and fractured world.
2. Devotion to the Holy Family
The Holy Cross charism invites families to look to Jesus, Mary and Joseph as the model of perfect unity, trust, and obedience to God’s will. By distributing these Rosaries and prayer aids, we help families imitate the virtues of the Holy Family—humility, fidelity, compassion, and steadfast faith.
3. Strengthening the Domestic Church
Holy Cross Family Ministries recognizes the home as the first school of faith. Each Rosary placed into the hands of a parishioner has the potential to transform a household into a small sanctuary where God’s presence is welcomed and celebrated. The materials distributed support families in living out their baptismal call to discipleship within their own homes.
4. Continuing the Mission of Venerable Patrick Peyton
Fr. Peyton’s life was dedicated to spreading Marian devotion and calling families to prayer through missions, media and personal witness. By sharing these articles, we walk in his footsteps, helping to ensure that his message continues to touch hearts today. His vision remains alive every time a family kneels together to pray the Rosary and entrusts their lives to God’s loving care. In gratitude for the collaboration of our parish communities, we continue to serve, confident that these seeds of devotion will bear fruit in renewed faith, strengthened families and a deeper love for Christ and His Blessed Mother.
