From Calvary to Easter, “Beads of Faith and Hope”

Lent affords us the opportunity to reflect on what exactly Calvary and Easter mean to us personally. Let us focus on one tribulation that torments us. Is it physical, mental or spiritual? Physical suffering in our modern world encompasses famine and poverty, the devastation by war, effects of oppression and illness including addiction, not only an affliction for the individual but a torment for the loved ones. Mental anguish includes depression with loss of self esteem and hope, fears and anxieties, abandonment, our betrayal and calumny levied against us. Our spiritual woes are perhaps mainly self inflicted – sins of Pride, Avarice, Jealously etc.. It is by praying the Rosary that we connect with God who sent His Son to redeem the world thereby giving us a second chance by dying on the cross for our sins. Because of Christ’s calvary, Grace can flow to us if we choose to allow God to be close to us and so our eyes are opened and we see and understand what is actually happening to us .

Christ rose from the dead at Easter. We shed our chains of slavery with this new insight and rise again to be who God intended us to be. This is our Easter. We are freed from torment by actually learning how to do God’s will but by His Grace alone. Happy Easter!
