Receiving Peace

Many years ago, as a high school student, then later as a university student, I would often feel the anxiety of exam time. Often we had exams that counted for a big percentage of our final grade and the exam time was an hour or two.

The stress of that situation could make me forget what I had studied or what I had learned in class.

I can recall the first time I decided to pray a decade of the rosary once the exam began. Of course I prayed in my mind, and I drew the tiny dots as beads on my paper with a pencil. I was worried that using the limited exam time to pray might not be a great idea! However, it did bring me peace and clarity.

As the years went by, I often did this, and for some of the longer exams I prayer the five decades of the rosary. I no longer have exams, but during those moments where inner peace seems absent, I know I can turn to our Lady and the rosary. As we prepare and live out the Advent season, what better way to pray and receive peace!
